Song can be in any style of choice to showcase student’s personality and strengths. A song from a musical (stage or movie version) is preferred, but a pop song that showcases your talents will also be accepted. If you are choosing one of our sample monologues, pick one that you think best suits your strengths and the kind of role you would be interested in performing. All of these are pre-approved and may be used while auditioning, but other monologues are also allowed (see above for audition selection requirements). Sample monologues can be found by clicking here. Be sure to be comfortable enough with the script that you do not have to be glued to the paper, as that will not help us see your best performance potential. If you are reading, you must bring your own copy to read, etc. It is recommended but not required to have the monologue memorized. Monologue can be in any style of choice to showcase actor’s personality and strengths. An adaption from a book or movie is also acceptable although keep in mind we are looking for your ability for stage performance, so make it lively! Monologue should be from a play or musical (stage or movie version). *Performers must bring their music on a labelled flash drive or may come early to pull up the song on Spotify (if the music is not on Spotify, it must be purchased and downloaded on to a flash drive for us to play it we will not play music via Apple Music or YouTube). Music does not need to be cut, but time stamps should be given. Dress in attire suitable and modest for dancing (you can follow the AODA dance dress code when in doubt) Dance can be in any style of choice to showcase dancer’s personality and strengths. If your strength lies in dance, we will choose a dance role for you should you end up being cast, and if your strength lies in acting and/or singing, we will choose a role along those lines. We ask you to still consider auditioning and to just pick whatever second option you are the most comfortable with. We know we are primarily a dance studio and that some dancers may feel uncomfortable giving a monologue or singing. Performers must have at least two of the below selections prepared or they will not be allowed to audition - although we recommend all three if you’re able, as that will give you an advantage in our evaluation process! Each performance can be in any style(s) of choice, and should be chosen to showcase the performer’s personality and strengths (for ex: humor, passion, sorrow, villainy, high vocal range, special dance tricks, a specific style of song/dance, etc). Register for a time slot at the bottom of this page and come early to fill out additional paper work (children should be accompanied by an adult) All performers should dress modestly (please see our studio’s Dress Code for questions).
